UME Toys is back for another NYCCRichard will be releasing toys & making signing appearances

Last year, we hung out for a bit with Richard Page and even grabbed some dinner with that charming bloke. Thankfully Rich will be back at NYCC this year with even more original resin pieces, inluding some new Dee-Dee, Martin Longbottom, Venom, magnets, keychains, prints and hopefully that sick Adventure Time set he sculpted recently. I was going to try and message him to get a rundown of what he's bringing but I think he's already in New York so that might be difficult. I guess we'll just have to talk to Rich at the Con on Thursday.... [ read more ]

Eric the Jawa ... from sketch to sculptOriginal sculpt by Richard Page from UME Toys

So where is Eric the Jawa come from? The concept came from the ToysREvil 'draw a jawa' fan submission. From Rich: "Eric the Jawa loves to collect droids especially astromech ones. Eric is a one off fan piece sculpt who stands a huge 5 and a half inches tall. If you're a fan of the Wars he'd love to say hello and if you're not careful still an R2 or 2.". If you'd like to pick him up he's currently for sale on Rich's shop here: As always, follow what Rich is doing on his site or on his twitter account @umetoys... [ read more ]

Variety of fuzzy Martin Longbottoms to choose fromNew Release: Richard Page from UME Toys releases 4 flocked Martin Longbottom figures

It seems our good buddy Rich, who is the mastermind .... yes I said mastermind, behind UME Toys has gone through the trouble of shooting his latest release Martin Longbottom on a white background after my tweet request. Seems only fitting after he went through the special effort for us I should do a quick write up. No release date or price yet on these guys, but after Rich see's this and wants to share that info I will be more than happy to make an update. In the meantime follow him on twitter @umetoys for release info, or just keep checking his store [ read more ]

Friday is now officially the new Monday ... follow this peepsFeatured Artists: Peskimo, Richard Page, Aesthetic Apparatus, and Aaron Jasinski

Alright so it's time to just fall in line and do an 'Official' Trampt #FollowFriday post with four great artists to follow. For some reason Sunday nights are impossible for me to get this done so I'm hoping this will be a bit easier to get out on a more consistent basis. If you're not familiar the original 'Must Know Monday' featured four artists that had some cool stuff going on this week. So it's the same thing ... just happening on Friday's now. Anyway, on to our featured artists... [ read more ]

Update on our book 'Deconstructing Designer Toy'Potentially looking for new publisher to speed up release date

For those people unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, back in November I made a newspost calling for artists to participate in an upcoming book we wanted to produce titled 'Deconstructing Designer Toys'. In this book, toy customizers would submit some of their work, and then as part of the submission they would describe the process for one of their pieces ... triumphs, difficulties, etc. Hopefully, making this a bit more than a typical toys/portfolio book with pretty pictures. We put the book together in about 6-7 weeks from start to finish, in order to hit a July 2012/SDCC release date. Well, it looks like our release date is around early 2013 so we're trying to explore our options.... [ read more ]
