Scarlett by Grzegorz DomaradzkiNew G.I. Joe themed prints from Acidfree Gallery

We checked out Acidfree Gallery's first round of officially licensed G.I. Joe and Transformers prints at NYCC a few weeks back and they were dope. Unfortunately, while I do love Tom Whalen & Dave Perillo, I personally wasn't digging their 'cartoonish' styles when depicting something from a cartoon. I feel like their work is more compelling when they're used to stylize real-life things as caroons. That aside, I have to say I'm blown away by this 'Scarlet' print from Grzegorz Domaradzki, a first design of three, for Acidfree : G.I.Joe series.... [ read more ]

AcidFree is dropping Transformers & G.I. Joe prints for NYCCNew work from Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo

As we get into the last week before NYCC we'll be posting up a ton of news over the next few days, and I know a lot of our members are there for toys but I want to make sure we also tell you about some great prints you can pick up too. AcidFree Gallery has a bunch of officially licensed Hasbro prints featuring the work of Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo who just opened a show together last weekend Around The World In An 80's Daze. I have to say I thought these prints were great on their own, but when I put them up side by side I want them even more. There are only have 4 prints shown, but AcidFree will premier the first 5 of their prints at NYCC Booth #1681. There doesn't seem to be a set release time or signing announcement so bring a tube and head over when the show opens to pick these up.... [ read more ]

Around The World In An 80's Daze at Gallery 1988 VeniceNew 80's themed travel prints from Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo

I am particularly excited for Gallery 1988 (Venice) upcoming show Around the World in an 80's Daze. There are two themes woven through the show, travel posters and 80's pop culture; think your-favorite-childhood-cartoon meets the golden age of poster design. The real treat for me are the artists behind it all, Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo. They were two of the first digital artists I saw that really motivated me as I was learning my way around Adobe Illustrator. I'm thrilled to see both of them in their first traditional gallery show, and I have no doubt that I'll soon be waiting for a few new poster tubes to arrive in the mail. Around the World in an 80's Daze opens at Gallery1988 (Venice) this Friday, September 28th from 7-10pm and will run through Oct 20th.... [ read more ]
