Gentle Creatures

'Gentle Creatures' is an online show that features a series of new drawings and paintings. "Hello, I would like to thank everyone who has been supporting my work along the way, and welcome the many newcomers who have joined the mailing list in the recent weeks. I am pleased to present my latest exhibition, Gentle Creatures. This selection of work features a mixture of drawings and paintings that will set the tone for my future work. I am really excited to share this body of work and hope that you enjoy the images. Sales for this show will be handled a bit differently than my shows in the past. I would like everyone to have a chance to 'preview' the exhibit beforehand in an attempt to get work into the hands of those who may have missed out in the past. Please feel free to view all of the new work at the link below. https://dan-may.squarespace.com/gentle-creatures You will have between now and 12pm EST tomorrow to make your selections. On Thursday, November 15 at 12pm EST, we will begin to take orders. At that time, we will go down the line and orders will be taken on a first come first served basis. You will be notified via email, and at that point details for payment and shipping will be arranged. Please do not send your selections before Thursday at 12 pm, as they will not be valid. We would like to offer those on the mailing list the first opportunity to make their selections; beginning at 5pm on Thursday it will go live to other sites (outside of the mailing list). Again, thank you very much for your support! Very Best, Dan"

Inle

Who or what is INLE? In 1974, Richard Adam's wrote the beloved classic "Watership Down". It is a tale about overcoming the obstacles of life that try to beat you into submission and coming out on top, told through the unlikely embodiment of rabbits. Upon reading the book at a young age, one particular thread stood out to me. The story of "The Black Rabbit of Inle". It was on page 280 of this book that my Grandfather had gotten for me on a road trip that the story of InleĀ“ unfolds. The fear he induced in the rabbits who told tales of him is not much unlike our own fears of death and what is unknown. I always questioned was their fear based upon him or the inevitability of their own demise, and was it something to fear or welcome after a long life lived? With this book began my over 24 year obsession with using rabbits as a tool in my art. Upon relating my memories of this book with some artist friends of mine, I wasn't surprised to find they had similar attachments to the story and subsequent movie and that it too was a huge influence on their work. The question is asked over and over "what inspires you and your art?". Well here is one aspect, and In my attempt to keep this story alive and in honor of Richard Adam's timeless story we are proud to present "INLE". -Greg "Craola" Simkins

Remedy

Taking thematic inspiration from the need to find cures for disease this group art exhibition will consist of each artist creating an original piece of art inspired by the theme. 25% of all exhibition sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to assist in their research into discovering cures for breast cancer. This particular exhibition has a very personal connection to me as I am a breast cancer survivor, being diagnosed less than a week after signing the lease agreement to open Rivet. In it's own way, I'd like this exhibition to help in a small way to further fund the research that played such a role in my own treatment as it has in countless other lives.
