Dragatomi has cooked up something special for SDCC this year but curating a custom Android Blindbox series which go on sale at booth #4935 starting on preview night. This custom Android by Ryan the Wheelbarrow is in his familiar O8stacles style by screenprinting acrylic on vinyl stickers and applying them to the vinyl. For those people unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, back in November I made a newspost calling for artists to participate in an upcoming book we wanted to produce titled 'Deconstructing Designer Toys'. In this book, toy customizers would submit some of their work, and then as part of the submission they would describe the process for one of their pieces ... triumphs, difficulties, etc. Hopefully, making this a bit more than a typical toys/portfolio book with pretty pictures. We put the book together in about 6-7 weeks from start to finish, in order to hit a July 2012/SDCC release date. Fugi.me, a new UK-based fine art prints by underground designers company, is set to launch on February 1st with an initial offering by Jon-Paul Kaiser. Kaiser's "Tolteca Print" will a 16"x16" 3-color lithograph limited to 50 copies, all hand-numbered and packed with a signed certificate of authenticity. Retailing for the very reasonable £29.99 (approx. $47), it is anticipated that this release will completely sell out rather quickly. The sophomore outing for the company will be the "Clop Swap" by Triclops Studio, a 16"x16" 5-color lithograph limited to 50 copies, also hand-numbered with a signed certificate of authenticity. Then Sneaky Raccoon will provide her unique sensibilities to a release, Valentine's Day themed is the rumor, to be quickly followed by pieces by Cris Rose and Podgy Panda.
