Conversations FAQ & Feedback Area

We we've created this pinned thread to talk a bit about conversations and to also get feedback from everyone as we implement more updates to this section. Most of the features are for formatting like: Bold (Ctrl+B), Italic (Ctrl+I), Lists/Bullets, Quotes & links to sites like Trampt

There are also two other important features:

'Add Image' - this will allow you to link directly to an image. A future state that we're working on will allow you to simply upload an image. In the meantime you can upload your photos to a free site like Imgur, and link directly to them.

'Tag Portfolio' - This feature is important for organizing content and being able to easily find all conversations about an artist, manufacturer or even an upcoming show. You can either type the name you would like to tag, highlight it and then click the 'tag portfolio' button, or you can just click on the tag portfolio and search for the portfolio and then click it to tag. An example would be if I tagged Kidrobot, which will now show up in the main conversations area, as well as Kidrobot's conversation tab.

I will update as we continue to get feedback through replies. :)

Does Trampt offer a tab where artist can posts photos and information of works in progress? Maybe create a Sneak preview tab in the feed? I think this will be an amazing feature for collectors to gain perspective on the creative process artists go through when creating customs.

Keegan-trampt-1698f

keegan a You can simply start a new conversation. As an artist all conversations you create will show up in your Conversations tab. You can mark the conversation with the 'Work in Progress' tag and share with the site. :) about 12 years ago

For the "Dealing it" feature, It would be good if you could see who is dealing a particular item (on the item page or an easy to spot click through to a list) in order to communicate with them! Like on Rotocasted where it lists the users who own the item etc. It's not really needed for the who "own it", but for those who "want it" and those "dealing it", it makes a lot of sense in helping the two find each other to work out a trade.  If the site already does this, then I cant seem to see/find it :D

Keegan-trampt-1698f

keegan a The quick answer is because we'll be building a lot of robust features in the Marketplace area that will handle this. The longer answer(s) is on our feedback site: https://getsatisfaction.com/trampt/topics/have_it_or_want_it about 12 years ago

Easily_Amused Will people dealing be able to enter a selling price? If so, will you be able to compare everybody's price from this list page? about 12 years ago

Hey! Sorry for posting here. Can't find a better place?
How much rep should i collect to unlock the pundit badge and finally be able to start conversations?

over 9 years ago · Comment ·

Keegan-trampt-1698f

keegan a It's 50 rep to unlock the pundit badge. You also earn rep from replying to conversations. I deleted a few of the items you added since they were already in the library. over 9 years ago

If I create a conversation as an artist, do I still need to tag my own portfolio or does it catch that and include the conversation in my portfolio conversation tab?

Also, on the other tags, either my computer is goofy, or some of that tags don't take unless you match capitalization - for example, I tried to tag my SLAB post with 'resin' but it would not take until I tried 'Resin' Not a big deal but you may get more tagging done if it gives more leeway, I don't think it would be intuitive to try capitalization once it didnt work the first time (I did because I am a sys admin by day and our systems do that kind of stuff too)

Keegan-trampt-1698f

keegan a If you post or reply to a conversation as an artist it will show up in the 'Conversations' tab of your artist portfolio automatically. I think the tagging only works when you actually 'click' on the item from the autocomplete dropdown. We're working on convo tags to help make using them more intuitive. about 12 years ago

Just wondering how to be able to post new conversations?

KenboSmash m Hello... the Trampt site is currently under revamp but once the new site launches this year, I'm sure conversations will be able to be added. Cheers. 11 months ago

Small bug I've been having. It has said I have had '1' notification for 3-4 weeks now. Even after clicking on it, it never goes away. It's not that big of a deal, just a small annoyance

I Just want to say thank you for the delete button! I read someones reply in a conversation, but was talking to them elsewhere about their work and forgot I read their response in the How many artists live solely off selling their work?  conversation and asked them the same question where I was talking to them about their art. Is there a way to have the person you are contactings conversations tab be visible to the side when you are writing a reply?

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused Even funnier, I just noticed the time stamp of when he posted to the conversation mentioned above, and I actually hadn't read it yet. I only thought I did.LOL! Still love the delete button. about 12 years ago

a few comments/feedback now that I've used conversations for some time:

  • should flag which replies and comments are new, so I can find them easily.  Otherwise I have to hunt for new ones each time I come back to a conversation I've already read.
  • I can resort the replies by newest, but it only sorts by replies and not by more recent comments to replies.
  • when using my tablet, the mouse over effect for the "comment" and "flag" tends to be quirky.  would rather that it just show there all the time.
  • when you add an image, it seems to try to fill the whole width of the conversation.  image looks very big as a result.

Would it be possible down the line to add the option to use enter to enter a space instead of submit comments?  That's just my personal preference as opposed to enter to submit & ctrl+enter to enter a new line.

I have over 50 rep, but I have not received the Pundit (start conversations) badge yet? Is there a delay in getting the badges?

about 12 years ago · Comment ·

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a Yes there is a delay. It looks like you have the badge now tho. :) about 12 years ago

A spelling checker? I'm crap sometimes at spelling, unless you can read typonese? =P

about 12 years ago · Comment ·

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a Spell check is something we could add rather easily to the conversation/reply textbox, however, it does add the overhead of loading that tool every time a conversation page is viewed. Most modern browsers (like Firefox) actually have built-in support for spell check when typing into text fields. about 12 years ago

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a ... So, while this is a good idea, I think for now we will just rely on browser features and keep the interface a bit leaner & quicker. But thanks for the idea/input! about 12 years ago

Crazylikeafox11-trampt-1660f

crazylikeafox11 m If you use Firefox, there's a built in spell checker. This normally works for most sites. Just an FYI. about 12 years ago

Suprised no one has posted anything here yet ... you know if you have questions of thoughts about conversations they can be posted here. :)

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused I have a few suggestions. First, to make your price guide work enable us to add the price we paid for items and date of purchase. Also, it would be nice to also add where we bought it from (this is high value information for market tracking). Finally, add a quantity button. I can't be the only person with multiples... about 12 years ago

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a All of that is available except for the "where you bought it part". Click on your "Have" count in the header bar at the top of every page. It will take you to your Have page. Then, click on the "list view" icon found next to the filter bar located at the top of your list of items. This will switch to a view where you can individually manage quantity, price paid, and date purchased, etc. about 12 years ago

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused Awesome, thank you! Is there a help page I missed somewhere? about 12 years ago

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a Welcome. Not for that page specifically. We are adding videos to our Vimeo page linked to from the footer, but we haven't covered that topic yet. Will be adding more tutorial videos soon. about 12 years ago

Keegan-trampt-1698f

keegan a In the previous designs it defaulted to that. Like Blake said, we'll be making some videos this week for our FAQ section. about 12 years ago

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused I just inputted in all my purchase information and it worked perfect! If you all can see how many people have entered that kind of information you can determine how many people probably don't know about the function. Maybe put it on the news page how to use it if most don't know about it. Tie it into the contest? about 12 years ago

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused I was just looking at my page and saw the black gipper bust, and thought wouldn't it be cool if the price guide would compare the values between colorways? I own the Red bust, it would be cool to know which one is doing better in value. about 12 years ago

Spiv-trampt-2f

blake a Good thought, I think this is all part of the Marketplace functionality which we are just building now. At the start the features will be the important stuff we know people will use, and then we will start to add convenience features like this. Thanks! about 12 years ago

Easily_amused-trampt-2928f

Easily_Amused Not a problem. I'm a bit of a chartist. So if you want to have a long conversation about some other functions that can be done with the price guide feature, I'd enjoy it. about 12 years ago

Spiv-trampt-2f
