Description

Josh Mayhem presents his addition to the custom Bellicose Bunny show at Toy Art Gallery entitled "The White Rabbit w/ Deathray". This creature from the Wonderland Forrest of the future is late for a very important date.... with whoopin some ass! Heavily armed with a Deathray, helmet mounted machine gun, and transforming pulse cannon (which actually does transform!) you may just welcome a decapitation from the Red Queen if this unpunctual bunny has you in his sites.

With this piece I used a hair dryer to warm up the vinyl making it relatively easy to pull apart, but still had to use an exacto knife to chop off a protruding piece on the bunny that connected the arms to the rocket. I then used magic sculpt to smooth out the left over hole, and to sculpt the feet. I flipped the head upside down and used magic sculpt to fill the neck hole on the body, simultaneously placing a short metal bar in the middle. After drilling a hole in what is now the bottom off the head I connected it to the body using a 2 part epoxy. The paint was done by both spray and hand brushed acrylic paint using both masking and hand brushing techniques for the lines. The bunny's back accesories are affixed with pegs epoxied into drilled holes. The accessoires may look fragile but are indeed very sturdy.

The Deathray was created through a combination of dissected toy accesories, found objects, and recycled wires from various disgarded electronics. The light is a recycled burnt out bulb, but in retrospect the next time I ever make a piece with a lightbulb I'm gonna make damn sure it works cause thats the first thing most people are asking me about haha. The pocket watch is an accesory from an actual White Rabbit figure I have as part of a miniature resin Alice in Wonderland set I found at a swap meet.

I only had a little over 2 weeks to bust this out so with my full time job there were plenty of nights burning the midnite oil to 3-4am, as well as waking up early to work on it before work, but in the end all the hard work paid off :)

keegan a Most of this information is already in the description. If you want to talk more about the piece or process here that would be great, otherwise it seems a bit redundant. Also, you don't have to talk in the third person when posting as yourself. :) about 9 years ago
