There is always more going on with the site and after a busy few weeks of traveling to NYCC and DCon we're trying to fall back into a routine. First on the list, as ever, is our weekly (more like bi-monthly, I know) Featured Artist segment. Each week we pick some artists we like for you to get to know a little better. They might be having a new release, show, or maybe we just ran into them recently, I guess you'll just have to read on and find out.

Featured for Designer Toys: Andrew Bell

A couple of years ago, Keegan and I were circling around NYCC with little to show for ourselves except for a laptop with a locally installed draft of what would become Trampt about a year later. Our goal, other than visiting the East Coast nerd heaven, was to talk to a few artists and gage people's interest in the site. One guy stands out in my mind as being by far the nicest and most patient to the two assholes with a laptop. Thanks, Andy!

Moving away from our personal love for Andrew Bell, there's a lot to love professionally. If I had written this feature on time, it might have given you a heads up to look for his Halloween 2012 Android, but those are now long gone. Not to worry, though. If you're itching to see more of his work, there's plenty of places to find it. I really enjoyed watching him win a much-deserved Designer Toy Awards : 2012 for his Android (best licensed toy - I voted for ya!) and you know there'll be more of those coming down the line. If you were at NYCC you might have also watched the Albino Glop in a Box sell like hotcakes at the myplasticheart booth. Keep an eye out for new releases, news, and frequent sketches on his site creaturesinmyhead.com or follow him on twitter @deadzebra.

Featured for Custom Toys: Avatar666

One of the best things about going to NYCC was all the new stuff we learned. On the short list of my all time favorite purchases from Tenacious Toys was a jaw-droppingly badass Wabbit custom by Chakal Tois, aka Avatar666 - except that, until a few weeks ago, I hadn't heard of him. So who is this mystery master of customizing? I am determined to battle a slight language barrier to find out. Based out of Mexico this sculpting hero has his own unique style and an extraordinary level of skill. You can see progress shots of his work, lots of amazing pictures, and even hear some news (if you speak Spanish) on his facebook page and on his flickr account

Featured for Art Prints: Jayson Weidel

Jayson Weidel is better than you at art. Really. He's a painter, an illustrator, a graphic designer and an all around force of awesomeness that you can now see popping up at lots of galleries. Most recently you might have seen his Fantastic Mr. Fox piece for the Bad Dads 3 show at Spoke Art Gallery. He had an awesome Joker portrait for Planet Pulp's Tim Burton show, and even more recently you can see his Walking Dead painting which he created for Ltd. Art Gallery's show Pop 2! taking place on Nov 8th. To keep up with his work visit his oo-de-lally.com or on twitter @planet_pulp.

Featured for Original Art: Brandi Milne

Our trip to NYCC was amazing, but is not without regrets. There were a lot of fun things going on and we just couldn't make them all. The event I am most sorry to have missed was the Brandi Milne show (along with Camilla D'errico) The Candy Escape at The Cotton Candy Machine. I am obsessed with Brandi Milne's paintings. They are filled with sweetness, both literally and figuratively, yet are somehow also grungy and occasionally bordering on grim. Her ladies are beautiful but often faceless and the scenery reminds me of the Fire Swamp from Princess Bride (wouldn't build a summer home there, but the trees are actually quite lovely). You can follow her blog for news, pretty pictures, and upcoming shows brandimilne.blogspot.com or on twitter @brandimilne.
