A week goes by at an incredible rate here in sunny California with so much to do and see every gorgeous day. So here, quick, before I get distracted, ar this weeks featured artists.

Featured for Designer Toys: Jason Freeny

I was about 12-years-old when I got my Visible Man. I painted all his organs before I assembled him, and only glued some of the bones together so that I could take him apart frequently. He was my favorite toy for a long time, and I wonder if maybe Jason Freeny and I had this toy love in common. Last year Keegan bought me his Gummy Bear Anatomy Puzzle (in green, of course), and putting him together took me right back to my tweens. It's been a few years since Jason's first anatomical sculpt (an anatomical dunny) and he really seems to have gotten the hang of it! His newest figure the Target (self medicated), set to be released at SDCC, has Keegan bubbling with anticipation. If you'd like to keep up with Jason's "candy-colored madness" check out his site at moistproduction.com or follow him on facebook

Featured for Custom Toys: Charles Rodriguez

Charles Rodriguez is out to make every other customizer look like a finger painting grade-schooler. His customs have a perfection to them that's a little hard to believe in both the sculpting and painting. His critters are elegant despite furrowed brows and tight scowls. His latest Paw custom titled Nanook is another beautiful example. With the ice crushing under his paw and the tiny leather details this piece is absolutely stunning.  I know from his feed that there are a few pieces in the works for SDCC so keep an eye on his Facebook and twitter to see what he's working on next.

Featured for Art Prints: The Little Friends of Printmaking

I think I've confessed before the soft spot in my heart for art couples. Why? Well, maybe it's because two heads are better than one, or that the pooling together of their talents produces unique results, or maybe it's just that everything they make is infused with love… whatever it is, there are some great examples of creative duos on the scene, and today I have one particular husband and wife team in mind that rock the poster scene! You may know JW & Melissa Buchanan as The Little Friends of Printmaking. Like many print designers, they made their name doing gig posters but with double the talent their prints and designs quickly began to stand their own ground. You've seen their pieces at lots of G1988 shows and just this week their sweet new Adventure Time print went on sale (and then rapidly vanished) on Mondo. They seem to have had the same idea we had this summer, leaving their cold native land of Wisconsin and moving their life to sunny LA. Hope to see you here! Like their page on Facebook for some up to date info and check out their site at thelittlefriendsofprintmaking.com

Featured for Original Art: Nychos

In keeping with an anatomical theme, I'd like to also introduce you to Nychos. With a spray can in one had and a sharpie in the other he's doodling up the streets of Vienna, and anywhere else a bare wall presents itself. I'm a huge fan of his style and his screen prints are amazing. His art recently invaded Detroit for a solo exhibition title "I'd Like to Meat You!" The show opened Friday, June 21st, but you can still catch it until July 18th, and as the title suggests, is all about meat. He's also currently working on a documentary along with Austrian filmmaker Christian Fischer, titled "From the Deepest Depth of the Burrow" which will follow Nychos and his crew throughout 2013/14 as he collaborates with other artists to create his murals and prepare for shows around the world. Follow his adventures on his site rabbiteyemovement.at or follow his shenanigans on Facebook

I spent the last month documenting Nychos stay here in Detroit. The show is at Inner State Gallery if anyone is interested in buying art and prints. His crew is called The Weird.
