This week's artist's all have something great going on, so it's a good idea to check them out. I'm also starting to think about setting a "theme" to future Artist of the Week features, so feel free to share if you have some good theme ideas. Here are this week's four inspiring artists:

Featured for Designer Toys: Johnny Ryan

I had a friend in fifth grade who drew nothing but super heroes and villains. He held the pen in his fist and scratched bulgy muscles into the margins of his schoolbooks, smudging blue ink as his weirdly lumpy strongmen took form. That style of cartooning that defined so many creative childhoods has evolved, matured (sort of) and found a home in the alternative art culture in late night cartoons and web comics - and one of the leading artists pushing the boundaries with racy wit and unusually refined skill is the great Johnny Ryan. He may be best known for his hilarious comics, but in this house he is most beloved as the creator of Cannibal Fuckface and Rottweiler Herpes. Two toys that are as fun to look at as they are to say out loud. Follow him on twitter @myjohnnyryan for updates, doodles, and a continuous tap of silliness, or check out his website johnnyryan.com for his latest and greatest.

Featured for Custom Toys: Dolly Oblong

Dolly Oblong is a character designer who magically mixes brainy monsters with her own unique brand of Kawaii cuteness. Her customs are insanely adorable and I love her Billy Brains and Baldwin characters, but this week I think everyone was wowed with her newest customs: Billy Bad (Jesse) and Billy Bad (Walter). As the entirety of my Facebook feed eagerly absobes the new season of Breaking Bad her timing could not be more perfect for this Dunny homage, and her new approach to illustrating these iconic characters has reawaken my interest on finally getting on board with this tv phenomenon. Follow her on twitter @dollyoblong for more beautiful customs, or visit her shop at shop.dollyoblong.com to get a critter of your own.

Featured for Art Prints: Anthony Petrie

Hailing from the Trampt home-state of Rhode Island, Anthony Petrie is a poster designer and illustrator who brings his immense talents to the geeky world of pop culture posters. A frequent exhibitor at Gallery 1988, his love for action bursts from his high-energy prints. In his latest piece he even got to incorporate his passion for zombies! You can come see his tribute to Shaun of the Dead this coming Tuesday, August 20th at The OFFICIAL Edgar Wright Art Show! presented by Gallery 1988. For more info on his doings visit anthonypetrie.com or follow him on twitter @zombiebacons.

Featured for Original Art: Amy Sol

Keegan and I have spent some time in Las Vegas. It's a city we love for its bright lights and fullness of spirit, and always leave feeling inspired - but imagine how inspired we'd be if we never left! From the pulsing, shining depths of the city of sin, come the calm flawless paintings of Amy Sol. Amy Sol's paintings glow. Their muted colors blend into one another and her crisp lines add a geometric flawlessness to a world that's otherwise soft, etherial, and bathed with light. Her art is as much about nature and its fluidity as it is about delicacy and precision. If you're in the LA area, you'll have an opportunity to see her work up close and in person next month at CHG Circa for her solo show, opening Saturday, September 14th. If you're far away, there's lots for you too at amysol.com. You can check out the prints available in her store, and keep an eye on any news by following her on twitter @amysolart.
