Welcome to this weeks 'Official' Featured Artists post with four great artists to follow. Each week we pick some artists we like who also happen to have some stuff going on this week that we think you should know about. Whether it's a new release, upcoming show, or just some cool stuff they're recently made. Anyway, on to our featured artists
I've got to say up front that I'm doing my best guess on UpTeMPO and Hands in Factory's back story since I'm running their Korean site through Google translate. It seems they are doing work with Coolrain in some capacity, sculpting or collaboration. I feel like such a bad journalist here, but I wanted to share his work and hopefully you enjoy seeing it. You can check out more of UpTeMPO's work at handsinfactory.com and like them at facebook.com/handsinfactory.
I'm not sure what they put in the water in Kansas City but it has turned out some of my favorite artists, including Carson Catlin. Carson is known best for his work stripping away vinyl to create amazingly organic figures. Though personally the silliness of his Seven Six custom Munny is still one of my all-time favorites. Not really sure what's coming next but I assume another show or two, and probably some customs for SDCC next month. You can check out more of Carson's work at memakepretty.com and follow him on twitter @carsoncatlin.
Founder of BLK/MRKT editions, Dave has been a stronghold in the Los Angeles contemporary art scene for over a decade. His current show 'Lost for Words' at FFDG is his first solo show in San Francisco since 2000 and it runs until June 16th. To find out more about the show check out ffdg.net. You can check out more of Dave's work at kinseyvisual.com.
Otto is trained as an architect but creates rich stories through a mixture of personal experiences and fairy tales. A majority of his work is done in black & white, similar to my other favorite monochromatic artist JPK, but when Otto decides to add a splash for color it is truly amazing. Speaking of amazing go to his site and check out more pictures of his custom 32 piece Dunny and Totem Doppelganger chess set 'Shah Mat II : The Great Sartorial Conundrum' that is simply jaw dropping. You can check out more of Otto's work at bjornik.com and follow him on twitter @bjornik.
