As a businessman I understand why Google wants to have some 'commercial' designs, but as a collector I generally find these Androids pretty weak. Though I'm also and iPhone owner, so you can read however you want into that statement. This Android - Series 3 design sports a smokey dark translucent body and carries the latest generation flagship 4G LTE GSM dual band tri force quadruple card 5GHz 5" HD* completely non-functional miniature Nexus phone accessory. That whole sentence came right from Andrew Bell's blog post and I have no idea what it means.

In terms of "art toys" I do not like licensed products and logos as a whole (with the exception of super-heroes but I view them closer on the fun collectable side than the art side of the toy spectrum. That, and I own a Mr. Slave because, well, it's Mr. Slave and that is funny) but I really like the Android robot as a base. If these weren't a corporate logo I'd be all over them, I feel they are a perfect canvas for toy artists. They have a perfect cute-kitsch factor that is quite appealing.

I think these are the most popular 'commercial' designs out there. They have a huge fan base, and without them I would not be in this hobby. This will be the strongest line of Android mini figures since it's inception, so there is a lot of excitement for this product.

@keegan I think you're on to something. Moreover because with each new release of Android figures, Android news blogs such as Droid Life and Phandroid pick up the stories and distribute them to their readers, which draw an interest from a non-collector.
Then you have us, who collected before the series debuted, and are spurred by our brand loyalty. It's a unique, and frankly genuis idea brought along by Google and Andrew Bell

keegan a There are tons of designs without a logo on them ... the appeal of Androids or Be@rbricks with a logo stamped on them eludes me. over 11 years ago
