Each week-ish we pick four incredible artists with a little something new going on (or if we just really really like 'em) and post it up here for your amusement, so let's dive right in to this week's fantastic four.

Featured for Designer Toys: Kathie Olivas

She is another artist who's hard to pigeonhole in the Designer Toy category because her other work, particularly her paintings, are so incredible. Her style, simultaneously cute to the point of being saccharine and terrifying to the point of tears strikes a balance that makes the viewer smile, think, and instantly fall in love - or maybe that's just me. Her hyper-evolved, tentacled, and often masked misfit children bring out something both maternal and nostalgic in me and I can't get enough, even with an extensive body of 2D and 3D work.

Back in the world of toys, I know we've already talked about her first Calliope Jackalope release with the Tomenosuke + CP partnership 'Calliope Jackalope #1' which was as beautiful and flawlessly executed in person as it looked in the pictures. You'll be able to get your hands of Calliope Jackalope #2 sometime this month. If you're lucky, you may also have caught the Fonzo Love NY show at myplasticheart which featured one of her beautiful customs. To keep track of her many amazing doings, including the rumored collaboration blind box mini-series with Brandt Peters by Cardboard Spaceship, don't forget to check in with circusposterus.com.

Featured for Custom Toys: Sander Dinkgreve

Sander Dinkgreve, more commonly known by his brand, Flawtoys is a Dutch-based toy customizer who has been so busy recently that it would be irresponsible for us not to talk about him. His hand-cast resin DIY toy Stranger was just released a month ago, and what it lacks (for me, anyway) in articulation it makes up for in uniqueness. I think it's incredible when someone puts that much work into casting a resin toy that someone else will turn into their own. It's like toy surrogacy, and I have a lot of admiration for that. It doesn't hurt that Stranger is also one badass looking toy. Besides this new platform, he also just dropped a new custom series a couple of days ago simply titled War. These look flawless in the listings and there are only a few left in his store. Check him out on flawtoys.com or follow him on Facebook for more info.

Featured for Art Prints: Laurent Durieux

Laurent Durieux is a hard man to love via the internet, but that doesn't stop us. With little more than a Facebook and Flickr accounts to go on, we've still been keeping our eyes on this Belgian master of the poster. His latest release with poster giant Mondo was a Jaws print, and as with most Mondo releases, it sold out immediately. Another recent appearance was his Buck Rogers print for the Weapon of Choice show at Hero Complex Gallery. His style, which pulls from the classic WPA posters and vintage postcards can make pretty much any pop culture reference feel a little extra warm and fuzzy with nostalgia. I'll do my best to keep you posted as more of his prints are released, and maybe some day we can talk him into keeping a blog.

Featured for Original Art: Amanda Visell

Amanda Visell brings a vintage vibe to the scene that the overwhelming pop is ever-so-thirsty for. Her style harkens back to war-era cartoons and retro advertising mascots, and her contributions to the world of art don't stop at her own creations thanks to her countless lectures and workshops. Since she began exhibiting her paintings some years back, her notoriety has rocketed - and rightfully so. Her latest original art creations are her one-of-a-kind Wood Idols. There are only a few still available through her shop myswitcheroo.com (my favorite, the Ton-Ton, sold much too quickly) so snag them up if you can! Keep an eye on her frequently updated blog amandavisell.wordpress.com for up to the minute news on her show, workshops, and releases.
