Four new artists for you to get to know better - four new reasons to buy more art!

Featured for Designer Toys: Alexandr Otsabera

Somewhere in the great ether that is "art" (and I'll admit that I have no idea where) there is a line that divides the fantastic from the bizarre - and somewhere in the outskirts of Kiev in the Ukraine is a man who straddles that line like a bucking bull. I'd like to introduce you to Alexandr Otsabera aka Patient № 6. His paintings are odd, sometimes terrifying, yet sweet and amazingly compelling. His toys and characters which represent creative undesirables, perhaps an aspect of himself, are spectacular. Although he says that he cannot explain the meaning of his art, he is heavily influenced by the ideas of mental and physical illness, as well as the… ahem… delicate… social state of his homeland. Last April he ran a funding campaign through indiegogo.com for his Patient No 6 White & Red series. He exceeded his goal by over 100% and the resulting figures are still available in his online shop. His figures are raw, designed to evoke an emotional response. They take you outside your comfort zone and expose you to a mindset that is most likely very different from your own. His latest figure is a 9" version of the Gagarin in Rocket from his Patient No 6 White & Red series titled Big Gagarin in Rocket. It's up for pre-sale on his site for $86. While Patient No. 6 struggles to tame his demons, you can buy one of his toys and help him stay on for the full 8 seconds.

Featured for Custom Toys: Motorbot (Kevin Olson)

Motorbot (Kevin Olson) likes to eat, and his custom Labbits are making my mouth water for the second time around! His sold out custom show I Like To Eat Too at Dragatomi opened February 9th and if you missed it, well, too bad - all those gorgeous Labbits are long sold. If you want to catch a glimpse, they'll remain on display until Mach 2nd. His previous I Like To Eat show back in March of 2010 was hugely successful and this sequel did not disappoint. His out of control sculpting skills (I was tempted to write skillz with a Z so that you know I really mean it) and great use of materials makes for some incredible looking textures that few other customizers could achieve. I feel compelled to talk about these foody Labbits because I love them oh-so-much but it behoves me to mention that his other less yummy and more toothy customs are badass as well. You can follow his sculpting, keep an eye on upcoming customs shows, and even glimpse his awesome limited resins on his site

Featured for Art Prints: Godmachine

Godmachine's intense illustrations will knock your socks off. Widely considered one of the heavy-hitters of todays ever growing print scene, his work is powerful, often gory, and heavily detailed. On top of being amazing (and having an enviable beard!) he's also extremely prolific. He was one of only a handful of artists selected to represent Gallery 1988 - Melrose in their recent Academy Awards sponsored event titled The Academy : 2013. His Zero Dark Thirty poster was an exceptional use of glow-in-the-dark ink and deserves an oscar all its own. Even more excitingly, for me anyway, was his latest for the Get A Room show at Bottleneck Gallery. I'm not ashamed to admit that The Fifth Element is my all time favorite movie and Godmachine's tribute to the true heartthrob in the movie (no, not Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, or the absolutely stunning Milla Jovovich), the robotesq intergalactic visitors called the Mondoshawan, warms my shiny metal heart. More exciting still is the news that he's already submitted some work to our buddies Warpaint Press and will be one of the first artists featured when they launch next month. Keep a close eye on his blog, or you'll inevitably miss something!

Featured for Original Art: Scott Listfield

Scott Listfield is another artist that appeals to my unquenchable thirst for science fiction, but he does it unlike anyone else. His unique paintings have gained quite a bit of traction in the last few years with their pop-culture references and lone wistful astronaut in his least natural habitat - present-day Earth. Listfield's clean painting style has won over many fans and there are very few of his pieces left at his latest show with Jeff Fillette at Gallery 1988 - Venice, which opened on February 8th. My favorite is long gone, and most likely so is yours - but you can follow his site for previews of future work and upcoming shows.
