Launching Halloween night at Toy Tokyo is the Scarygirl 10th Anniversary Show feautring works from a variety of artists you know all to well. We Kill You has produced a small run of clear resin figures which are WKY's take on Nathan Jureviciu's iconic Bunniguru character from the Scary Girl series. So we were going to cover the event like one of those professional blogs, but a dead cell phone and a copious amount of drinks prevented that. Even though we didn't win spankystokes definitely deserved it with the amount of news he's been pushing out this year. My only beef with the category is to not call it 'Best Blog' next year ... so we might have a shot at winning. :) I also love that the person who has probably spent $2+ million on his art collection lost 'Best Collection' to someone that laid their collection out by color. We had a busy week in Tramptland. One of the rare treats we got last week was a kid-free day trip to New York for Gallery 1988's Crazy 4 Cult NYC, and crazy is exactly what it was. Walking the city all day hitting up a variety of toy shops like Kidrobot, Myplasticheart, and Toy Tokyo we picked up some Goon Squad, Labbit - Deadly Sins, and Dunny - 2012. Then we got in the line that wrapped around the block in the Meatpacking District about 15 minutes before the show opened. Then we waited. The line was long and the crowed was excited. I heard from one of the people working the event that some people had gotten in line at 10pm the night before!... [ read more ]
After some technical issues brought down the Popadanda site during their exclusive Fat Tony release, which has since sold out, it looks like Toy Tokyo is wasting no time by releasing some Ron English figures early. This SDCC pre-order is a pretty neat way for fans, unable to make the trek across country or further, to pick up some great stuff before they hit eBay.
