Porreca is a modern contemporary artist working out of studio space in San Francisco and occasionally London. Claiming marked influences from the repetitive religious and popular iconography of her childhood, European silhouette and folklore artists, literature, Street Art, with whimsical & macabre films she paints a delicate world of intricately layered folklore. She was born to two artists in a small village outside of London, England. She spent her childhood living in the Middle East and found herself in San Francisco with nothing but sheer fodder to create. Much like a creative alchemist, Porreca at times spends days in her studio immersed in literary and visual research, perfecting this unique method by which she produces her artworks. Her paintings are on wood panel and loaded with the texture of centuries ago, but with futuristic elements, leaving the viewer unsure and unsteady in the face of a new and very modern work of art. Porreca's artworks have gained more recent exposure thanks to publications and online forums like Live Fast Magazine, Argot and Ochre, & Lost at E Minor. In the past she has been featured multiple times in Juxtapoz Magazine, Kotori Magazine, The Philippine Star, Manila, and The Village Voice, New York. Porreca's works have been shown in Europe, Asia, Canada and Australia and she continues to seek out workshops and residencies worldwide where she can be affected by the work of her contemporaries to weave an intricately layered fabric to leave behind long after she has gone.
