"Total Atomic Meltdown," a group art toy exhibition of neo-kaiju and other strange creations, will open on Saturday, March 8th with a reception from 6-9PM local time and be on display April 4th, 2014 at The Clutter Gallery, 163 Main St., Beacon, NY 12508. Participating artists include: Blurble, Bob Conge/Plaseebo, Brent Nolasco, Candie Bolton, Cop A Squat Toys, D-LuX, Frank Mysterio, Grumble Toy, GUUMON, Ilanena, InstincToys, Josh Herbolsheimer, LiLjapan, Maneki Nekro, Mark Nagata of Max Toy Company, Michael Nordstrom (of Garamania), Mr. Krotpong, Nebulon5, RESTORE, Splurrt, Sunguts, Uamou, and Velocitron. Sunguts is the artistic alias of Tadayoshi Ichimiya, a Japanese artist renowned for his work in character design and sofubi (soft vinyl) figure creation. Since 1991, Ichimiya has directed advertising projects and developed characters, collaborating with various brands and artists. Ichimiya specializes in crafting unique characters that blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary design elements. He is celebrated for his sofubi creations, which are hand-crafted soft vinyl figures. These figures often feature vibrant colors and intricate details, drawing inspiration from kaiju (giant monster) and pop culture motifs. Clutter Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery specializing in the vibrant world of designer toys and lowbrow art.
