About this Event
Munnybrella rocked this year, as you can see by these wonderful pieces. Thanks to everyone who made it out! For those of you that missed it, here's a permanent display for you to scope out. These artists absolutely came out swinging, and the Atlanta scene got a delicious dose of the vinyl toy addiction. A Munny is a figure created by Kidrobot and made out of vinyl with movable joints. The initial idea was undertaken by taggers/ street artists/ street art designs and toys from (illegal artists) who have come to bring back their work legally to the public to display their works. The figures are blank and the owner can decorate them using pens, pencils, markers, paint, and other supplies. Alternatively, some people commission artists to design Munnys for them, or artists design them to sell. In MUNNYWORLD, you can do anything you want! MUNNY, BUB, TRIKKY, RAFFY, and ROOZ are the soft, super smooth vinyl figures that make up MUNNYWORLD. Each one is a blank canvas, and all ready for scribbling, piercing, painting, posing, piling, dressing up, and sculpting into forms straight from your imagination or you can keep them just as they are. See how great you truly are. Do amazing things and create more than ever before. And, most importantly, have fun with MUNNYWORLD Freelance Artist and Designer for various clients. Creating logos, apparel, catalogs, gigposters, separations, postcards, fonts, toys, business cards, and website design. MINT was founded in 2006 by Erica Jamison, a film student at Georgia State University. Shortly after incorporating, she partnered with several other SCAD and UGA students, found exhibition space and began working to enrich the Atlanta arts community. Currently, MINT is run entirely by a volunteer staff of 3 in addition to a small group of interns. We’ve worked with more than 200 artists, hosted upwards of 60 exhibits and partnered with numerous organizations such as BurnAway, Flux Projects, Dance Truck, and Young Blood Gallery and Boutique. We’ve also recently launched Leap Year, a mentorship program, that will allow 3 emerging artists to develop their creative voices. Each day we work to further our mission to to cultivate a stronger creative community in Atlanta and throughout Georgia by providing exhibition space, curatorial opportunities, workshops and classes, and other resources for artists of all skill levels and backgrounds.
