About this Venue
From our experience, collecting valuable art does not have to break the bank or require a trip to New York, London, or LA's hottest contemporary gallery. 1xRUN is working with leading established and emerging artists providing weekly limited edition, signed, authentic and exclusive print runs. These print releases, or RUNS, are open for one week only. Once it closes, the work is produced to the specifications and quantity sold in the RUN. Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media. Various Sizes and Mediums of Original Artwork The exhibition introduces a brand new body of work highlighting Above’s iconic arrow that has appeared prominently in a massive public art campaign spanning 15+ years, 100+ cities and 60+ different countries across the globe. Above has meticulously dissected and reassembled his latest collection of arrows and targets by creating multiple color palettes and weaving them together to create new seamless works. “The idea for this newest body of work of Remix has been something I’ve been developing during the past three years, and more specifically been refining during the past year. I’ve always been attracted towards color swapping, symmetry, curved lines. These past 12 months my street works (and indoor brainstorming) has all been about dissecting my arrow icon and remixing it into new abstract shapes, mixing of colors, and usage of curves as much as possible into each piece. These past 6-months I really dove into exploring all of these elements and this body of work is the outcome of those long days and longer nights doing research and trying out new techniques.” - Above
