About this Venue
Spoke Art is San Francisco’s newest art gallery and publishing house. Following a year of pop up exhibits in New York City, San Francisco and Oakland, we have finally settled down into our new permanent space on Sutter Street in San Francisco’s dynamic Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. We specialize in emerging new contemporary artists with a firm emphasis on figurative and illustrative works. Our regular exhibits open the first Thursday of every month, and we specialize in connecting collectors with secondary market works namely in the fields of pop surrealism, low brow and street art. Casey Weldon was born in southern California, where he spent the majority of his life up to his graduation from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. After a brief time running his own studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, He relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he now lives and works as an illustrator and fine artist. By using to the iconography of today and yesterday's popular culture, his work aims to awaken a feelings of nostalgia within the viewer, though often along with a sense humor, melancholy, and longing for times lost. Acrylic paint is fast drying paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Depending on how much the paint is diluted (with water) or modified with acrylic gels, media, or pastes, the finished acrylic painting can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media. Spoke Art Gallery is proud to present “New World Hoarder,” an exhibition featuring new work by Los Angeles based artist Casey Weldon. For his San Francisco solo show debut, Weldon will be debuting fantastical and beautifully painted images meant to inspire, question, parody, and evoke laughter. “New World Hoarder” takes you on a surreal adventure ripe with four-eyed animals, majestic woods people, and chalk full of acerbic pop culture jabs. Weldon pairs exquisitely rendered paintings on wood panel with thoughtful, humorous and biting takes on the obsessed world around us. He seamlessly balances the monumental with the trivial to offer the viewer a truly original slice of life today. This show mixes the cute, the creepy and the melancholy. The artist presents the idea of a romantic and colorful image as a means to deliver something a little darker, stranger or just plain absurd. Showing alongside Casey Weldon will be Peter Adamyan in a special mini show entitled “Back Room Cinema”. Peter started his artistic career in Los Angeles and has recently relocated to San Francisco. Adamyan’s series of work takes its influence from exploitation and B-movie posters. “I conceived the main pieces in this show with the idea of creating a poster
