Dudebox has been working closely with Pete Fowler to create a new range of collectable vinyl toys. The origins were based in the hugely successful ‘Design a Fiend’ competition held in December 2011. From over 300 brilliant entries a panel of special judges decided on three winners. Those three Fiends will emerge over the future as part of the Fiends collection. The project, named Pete Fowler and Fiends, brings together top character artists, illustrators and designers to work on the series of new platform toys designed by Pete Fowler. The new collection marks Pete’s return to the vinyl toy world. Producer of the ultimate limited edition vinyl toys. We set out on an adventure to 'Inspire to create'. A burning love for art, design and everything to do with creative culture forced us to sow the Dudebox seed back in 2010. We really had no choice! Pure creative energy can't be held back. We have been surrounded by exciting visionaries and creatives from all around the world for a long time. Now, coming together as Dudebox we want to give these talented artists a new platform to express themselves from. Our motivation is simple. We want to INSPIRE TO CREATE! This is our mission statement and our mantra. It keeps us in mind of who we are doing this for and that is the artists, the collectors and anyone else who is new to the world of vinyl toys and wants to discover more Pete Fowler (born 1969 in Cardiff) is a Welsh artist best known for his artwork for the Welsh band Super Furry Animals. He is a freelance illustrator and "monster creator" inspired by Japanese art, folklore, myths, psychedelia and super nature. He has also done a number of other projects in the UK and Japan, such as television advertisements (Kia Picanto), as well as having art exhibitions all over the world. Fowler works in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, animation, and sculpture. Fowler's art is done in a postmodern cartoon style. His work revolves around a central narrative and features a recurring set of characters. The "monsters" Fowler creates all reside on "Monsterism Island". Fowler invents extensive back-stories for his characters; each has its own specific traits and levels of "monsterism". Fowler is most known for his designer toys of his characters, which he himself manufactures with his own company. A CD called The Sounds of Monsterism Island was released in 2005 by Heavenly Records.
