About this Event
"Perfect Examples" is a group custom show strictly comprised of hand-painted 5-inch tall MAD*L figures. Opening on July 11th and running through August 15th, this special exhibition will be on display at PIQ — found in the Grand Central Terminal (Shuttle Passage, 89 E. 42nd St., New York, NY 10017). Featuring the artistic talents of Sket One, Carson Catlin, Juan Muniz, Jason Thomas, Jeremi Rimel, Crummy Gummy, Yema Yema, Riot 68, The Graphix Chic, Brian Flynn, Dillion Boy, Dolly Oblong, and many more, this show will certainly be one you don't want to miss! MADL is a designer art toy platform created by Jeremy “MAD” Madl, one of the pioneers of the urban vinyl toy movement. First released in 2002, MADL figures are known for their bold, blocky shape, clean lines, and graffiti-inspired aesthetics. They were among the first American-designed vinyl toys to gain popularity, bridging the gap between street art, hip-hop culture, and designer collectibles. The MAD*L figure typically has a distinctive angular form with a broad head and a compact body, providing a great canvas for artists to customize. Over the years, the platform has featured numerous limited-edition releases, artist collaborations, and hand-painted customs, making it a highly sought-after collectible in the art toy scene. P!Q Store in New York is an art toy and collectible store located in Manhattan, specifically in the NoHo neighborhood. This store is a physical extension of the larger P!Q brand, known for offering a curated selection of designer toys, limited-edition figures, art prints, and other collectible items. P!Q New York caters to art toy enthusiasts, pop culture fans, and collectors who appreciate unique and exclusive art products. Jeremiah Ketner's paintings are instantly recognizable amongst his contemporaries in the pop surrealism movement. His early work, characterized by mischievous sprites and whimsical patterns, has evolved into lush, richly colored environments inhabited by a cast of pensive, dreamy young women. Each character presents a unique brand of beauty, created entirely within Jeremiah's imagination and painted completely from memory. The sprites (which grace the walls of Nordstrom department stores nationwide) still appear as inspiration for custom wooden and vinyl toys. Bringing a three-dimensional surface to life is one of Jeremiah's favorite challenges; the intricate, colorful one-of-a-kind creatures are immensely popular amongst his collectors.
