About this Artist
Jason was born and raised in Southern California. He grew up in a room full of Transformers, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, He-man, Ghostbusters, Smurfs, Snorks, Jetsons, Scooby Doo and about every other knick knack you could think of. If you like old school video games and anything nerdy, you’re A-OK in his book! He started playing with digital art early on in high school and studied studio art and design at Cal State Long Beach. Immediately after graduating, he started working in the movie trailer industry. His works include The Dark Knight Rises, Inglourious Basterds, Repomen, Prototype 2, Dead Island and Marvel vs. Capcom to name a few. He entered the gallery scene in 2010 as a way to push himself creatively and see what kind of artistic mishaps his brain can produce. Gauntlet Gallery opened its doors in December of 2012. As a gallery we are committed to creating an approachable and engaging platform for emerging and established artists. Located in the Tenderloin District (Larkin and Sutter), the Gallery finds itself in the thick of what is becoming the artistic hotbed of San Francisco. Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, seriography, and serigraph.
