About this Manufacturer
Sunguts is a Japanese art toy manufacturer renowned for its unique and colorful sofubi (soft vinyl) figures. Founded in 2007 by a talented artist, Sunguts has been creating distinctive collectibles that have captivated enthusiasts worldwide. The company specializes in crafting imaginative characters, often drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore, kaiju (monsters), and pop culture. One notable creation is the Turtle Back Dragon, a blue and white limited vinyl sofubi figure that showcases the brand’s attention to detail and artistic vision. Sunguts’ dedication to the sofubi craft has led to collaborations with various artists and participation in international events. For instance, the Los Angeles Modern Sofvi Market, hosted by Sunguts and Monster Patrol Toys, marked the first time the Shibuya Modern Sofvi Market event took place outside of Japan. The Tokyo Wonder Festival (ワンダーフェスティバル), or Wonfes (ワンフェス, Wanfesu), is a semiannual (February and August) event held in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. It is sponsored by the Kaiyodo manufacturing company. The main focus is to display and sell "garage kits", which are sculptures that usually represent anime and game characters, but also popular mecha/sci-fi characters and creatures such as Kuratas. These models are extremely detail oriented, and many of these sculptures appear in very small quantities due to the amateur nature of their reproduction. Sunguts is the artistic alias of Tadayoshi Ichimiya, a Japanese artist renowned for his work in character design and sofubi (soft vinyl) figure creation. Since 1991, Ichimiya has directed advertising projects and developed characters, collaborating with various brands and artists. Ichimiya specializes in crafting unique characters that blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary design elements. He is celebrated for his sofubi creations, which are hand-crafted soft vinyl figures. These figures often feature vibrant colors and intricate details, drawing inspiration from kaiju (giant monster) and pop culture motifs.
