"Gift Wrapped" includes over 50 amazing artists who each created affordable pieces of art just in time of the Holidays. This 'cash and carry' show opens on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 with a reception from 6-9PM, with pieces being taken off the wall as they are sold; unsold pieces will remain on display until January 3rd, 2014.Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. Potts works with a wide variety of media to create illustrations, animations, graphic prints and collage for apparel, posters, album covers, music videos, and limited edition prints. His influences include classic cartoons and animation, skateboarding, Renaissance Art, toys, religious iconography, Abstract Art, science fiction, movies, Psychedelic Art, music, and natural phenomena. Potts also creates fine artworks for gallery shows and exhibitions worldwide. He currently lives and works out of the basement of a tiny coach house in Chicago.
