About this Platform
NEW CHARACTER RELEASE: BASTARD ! ! As much as Uamou is a pure hearted alien boy, Bastard is a foul-mouthed, bratty little kid who talks behind everybody’s back and is just incredibly unpleasant to have on your pic-nic. We don’t think he is bad though, probably he is just asking for attention. The character Bastard has been featured for many years on different designs and drawings by Ayako Takagi and has been one of the main characters in the Uamou universe. We are very glad to announce that the Bastard vinyl toy will be a regular item in our assortment and we hope it will find a home wherever Uamou already has found one. The first release of Bastard will consist out of two versions. The all white unpainted character will be sold for 1800 yen each and the all white character with painted mouth will be sold for 2000 yen each. Designer Con is an annual art and design convention that smashes together collectible toys and designer apparel with urban, underground and pop art! The Toy Art Gallery is the first gallery of its kind to showcase and consult on high-end art toys and sculptures. Our goal is to showcase exciting, original, and new artists who use figurative sculpture as their primary medium of expression. We also focus on showing, collecting, and producing high end, limited edition, custom, and life-size toy sculptures. Our showroom and gallery is located in Hollywood, California. One of our specialties is to provide availability on rare and desirable toys, life-size figures, bronze sculptures, and one-of-a-kind custom figures created by some of the leading artists/toy designers from around the world. We also have an incredible selection of aftermarket fine art originals and prints created by the leading pop surrealist and low brow artists working today. Our aim is to provide the best works from these artists at a fair market value and priced to fit a variety of budgets. Ayako Takagi’s goal is to expand the world of UAMOU through picture books, figures, animation and jewellery, bridging the gap between the character movement and art/design. From a young age she was greatly influenced by her parents who were both jewellers. Growing up in a creative environment, Ayako had always been interested in drawing and making things. Whilst studying in London she started making and selling UAMOU products throughout Europe. After graduating from Camberwell College of Arts she moved back to Japan where she is working as an artist and designer on the international stage.
