Andrea Kang has created a fanciful world filled with girls, bears, and little creatures. Her narratives explore nostalgia and the blurred lines that exist between dreams, reality, and memories. After graduating with her Masters from the Rhode Island School of Design she worked for Hasbro Inc. designing toys. Since then she's taught, participated in gallery exhibitions and dedicated her time to freelance illustration and product design work. She also started a design collective with illustrator Nathan Jurevicius under the moniker 'Harley & Boss.'Nathan Jurevicius was born in Bordertown, Australia, in 1973. He began his art career at a very early age, hosting his first exhibition at the age of 6. Although the Scary Girl comics and art toys are Nathan's most well-known work, he has also done graphic design art for companies like Flying Cat and Nickelodeon, Scholastic Inc, The Financial Review, Penguin Books, Subaru, Comedy Central, Allen and Unwin, Fuji, MTV, The Wall Street Journal, ABC, Warner Bros. and a major commission to design the Australian mascot (Kamone) for the World Expo in Aichi, Japan.Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media.Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, established in July 2004, is located on the border of Chicago's Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods in a beautiful vintage building.
