Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, established in July 2004, is located on the border of Chicago's Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods in a beautiful vintage building. Since opening, Rotofugi has grown to become one of the world's premier sellers of designer toys from artists all over the world. Rotofugi features a diverse selection of vinyl figures, capsule toys, plush and more from both eastern and western designers. Beginning in late 2007 Rotofugi partnered with Chicago based product development specialist Squibbles Ink to begin producing artist-designed figures by the talented designers located in their home town. You can find the couple in and around the store on most days. They love to talk about toys and art. Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, seriography, and serigraph. Clay 'FERG' Ferguson creates his iconic works with a deep respect for the clean line. His aesthetic is governed by the idea that less is more: by stripping away the unnecessary and utilizing minimal shapes and colors, he creates simple, yet visually arresting figures and images. The co-founder of successful toy companies Jamungo and Playge, FERG is renowned for such iconic toy lines as Project Squadt, BUDS, the Sqube and the Misfortune Cat. He likes family, friends, fun and visiting the skate park. He lives in Austin, Texas.
