About this Artist
MUMBOT is an artist who founded the brand MUMBOT, LLC - an art centered brand focused on providing limited edition and highly collectible art products and content to fans and collectors. "kimokawa" was used to describe my work once. I am inspired by nature, sound, cuteness, science, the weird, the creepy, adventure and my family. Jade Kuei a.k.a. “MUMBOT” is a NY/BKK based artist who also goes by the professional alias of "Mumbot". She exhibits works across the country as well as internationally and has had works published in “Kawaii Design+” (DoPress Books), “Kawaii Manga Adorable!” (HarperDesign) and “Chibi Manga Irresistible” (HarperDesign, Monsa). MUMBOT enjoys creating characters, comics, zines, designer toys, installations of her mythical and magical worlds and more. Be on the look out for Aughostus, Mossy, Shumi Mushrumi, the Girl From the Forest Floor and more who have just begun making their presence known in the designer toy scene. She has taught workshops at various locations as well. In her freetime she has been hard at work developing powerful creative formulas. Kuei illustrates whimsical yet haunted abstractions of her own dreams and experiences. Her kids and their superpowers, have been catalysts of inspiration and as the fulcrum for her further documentation,Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, established in July 2004, is located on the border of Chicago's Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods in a beautiful vintage building. Since opening, Rotofugi has grown to become one of the world's premier sellers of designer toys from artists all over the world. Rotofugi features a diverse selection of vinyl figures, capsule toys, plush and more from both eastern and western designers. The adjoining Rotofugi Gallery features monthly art exhibits by a range of both local and nationally known artists. Beginning in late 2007 Rotofugi partnered with Chicago based product development specialist Squibbles Ink to begin producing artist-designed figures by the talented designers located in their home town. Click here for more information on Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi projects. Rotofugi is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Kirby and Whitney Kerr. You can find the couple in and around the store on most days. They love to talk about toys and art.
