About this Artist
I am a Pittsburgh based artist who has spent time working as an embalmer in funeral homes. My paintings are made using acrylic paint, shellac, wood and nails and tell stories about death, devils and saints. I'm greatly influenced by The Day of the Dead, Halloween, horror films, churches, The German Expressionists and my time in funeral homes. Gauntlet Gallery opened its doors in December of 2012. As a gallery we are committed to creating an approachable and engaging platform for emerging and established artists. Located in the Tenderloin District (Larkin and Sutter), the Gallery finds itself in the thick of what is becoming the artistic hotbed of San Francisco. Acrylic paint is fast drying paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Depending on how much the paint is diluted (with water) or modified with acrylic gels, media, or pastes, the finished acrylic painting can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media.
