About this Venue
Giant Robot Store, established in 2001 features products from around the world. Notably, fun house wares, gifts, stationeries, t shirts, comics, plush and toy figures. Giant Robot is often cited as the birthplace for Asian Pop Culture products and Uglydolls. GR2 Gallery features art exhibitions by notable artists like Katsuya Terada, Luke Chueh, David Choe, Mari Inukai, Deth P Sun, Rob Sato, Ako Castuera, Sean Chao, Yoskay Yamamoto, Uglydoll, and countless others. Touma is a Japanese artist and designer known for his distinctive urban and edgy art toys. He gained prominence in the designer toy scene with his signature sharp, angular aesthetics and stylized, anthropomorphic characters that often have a rebellious or mischievous look. Many of his figures have oversized, curved claws instead of hands, giving them a dynamic and aggressive stance. His designs often have a street-art aesthetic, blending elements of graffiti, hip-hop, and Japanese pop culture. Touma frequently designs animal-human hybrids, masked warriors, and robotic creatures with a sleek, futuristic look. Touma’s art toys are popular among urban vinyl collectors, kaiju fans, and designer toy enthusiasts who appreciate bold, dynamic, and highly stylized figures. Giant Robot teamed up with David Horvath, creator of UglyDolls, and asked artist Luke Chueh to curate a group custom toy show that will be on display during SDCC that features custom UglyDoll figures. Artists include: Luke Chueh, J*Ryu, Angry Woebots, David Horvath, Yukinori Dehara, John "Spanky" Stokes, 64 Colors, Miso, A Little Stranger, Mari Inukai, DrilOne, Leecifer, Kano, Scott Tolleson, and Julie West. If you plan on attending SDCC, these customs will be on display at booth #1729.
