About this Medium

Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media. Wetworks first started getting attention through his line of limited-run, original mixed-media figures, and various fan art collections based on his favorite characters from comic books, movies and TV. His approach to creation and design is driven by his desire to continuously evolve his craft through experimentation and true collaboration with fellow artists and designers. And staying true to his roots when he first dabbled in toy design, Wetworks doesn't stick to just one style or material when bringing his characters to life. Wetworks graduated with a degree in Fine Arts with a major in Industrial Design but found himself in the world of Mad Men after college. After spending almost a decade and a half creating works for clients that would make even the legendary Don Draper jealous, Wetworks decided to pursue his passion for toy design beginning with one-off customs and commissioned pieces. He hasn't looked back since.
