FOE Gallery was founded to showcase art, create connections and share ideas. We partner with artists local to international with a focus on vinyl figures, subculture art and illustration. The beautiful space located in downtown Northampton Massachusetts brings people together for openings, music, video, interviews and presentations. FOE is owned and operated by Nicole and Jim Shea. Featuring the work of Mark Nagata; illustrator, toy designer and man behind Max Toy Company. The show also includes special guest from across the Northeast and their interpretation of Max Toy characters: Matt Albanese/MCA, Ryan Bonsall, Bob Conge/Plaseebo, Bob Eggleton, Kristilyn, Will Long/Buildbots, Brian Mahony/Guumon, Joe Merrill/Splurrt, Mister Reusch, Todd Robertson/Mechavirus, and Matt Walker/Dead Presidents Designs. Evil was born in 1991, when one of MCA’s favorite entertainers, Pee Wee Herman (Mr. Paul Reubens), was arrested in an adult movie theater. Agitated by the absurd way in which Reubens was demonized by the media, MCA manipulated his mug shot, added devil horns to his head, and sarcastically wrote the word “Evil” beneath it. He printed up T-shirts and stickers with this image and began distributing them in and around Boston: Since then, Evil Design has spread throughout the world. MCA has also made a name for himself in the gallery world over the past few years.
