About this Event

Clutter Gallery Presents the 11th annual installment of the acclaimed annual [IN] Action Figure exhibition! Elevating the art of action figures/bootlegs to its rightful place as a primal and direct art form. The act of bootlegging gives the artist’s voice a pure channel to the viewer, unedited and with an honesty impossible to mimic in other art toy formats. A bootleg action figure is an imitation of an authentic action figure that is made by someone other than the official manufacturer. Bootleg figures are often sold as originals, but they can look very different from the authentic figure in several ways Clutter Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery specializing in the vibrant world of designer toys and lowbrow art. Located in the artistic community of Beacon, New York (home to the world famous Dia museum), Clutter Gallery has established itself as a premier destination for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Since its inception in 2011, the gallery has been dedicated to showcasing the work of both established and emerging artists who push the boundaries of pop culture, street and low-brow art. In addition to its dynamic exhibitions, Clutter Gallery also houses an impressive permanent collection of Designer Toys, curated by the team behind its renowned print publication. This collection serves as a testament to the gallery’s deep-rooted connection to the designer toy movement and its commitment to preserving and celebrating this unique art form. Brent Nolasco is renowned for his imaginative and emotionally resonant designer toys, sculptures, and paintings. His work seamlessly blends elements of the surreal, grotesque, and whimsical, often exploring themes of transformation, mortality, and personal mythology. Nolasco’s art is characterized by a fusion of “cute characters with nightmarish backdrops,” creating pieces that are both endearing and unsettling. He employs a diverse palette and mixed media techniques to craft unique textures and forms, reflecting his belief in constant evolution and the interplay between life and art
