About this Artist

The work of MAp-MAp is the underhanded creations of Matthew Plater. A UK artist originating from the city of Leicester he flips around the world of many traditonal & digital mediums to push out any ideas he mulls over. Those ideas mainly come from a curiosity for the visually appealing and skin deep oddity in the characters and places he sees on his travel. With all knowledge being twisted by his vibrantly wasted youth spent on Saturday cartoon mornings & after school SNES marathons all edited by a young teen life spent in the woodls & farmland of Derbyshire. 1AM and curator James Brown, are proud to present “Kozik”, an exhibition that pays homage to Frank Kozik’s artistic career over the past 30 years. The show reflects on his iconic work from being a poster artist for renowned bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beastie Boys to a vinyl toy sculptor and designer. The new collection aims to expose his influence on art culture today by showcasing new and original posters by the man himself, Frank Kozik, as well as including select artists to interpret his designs into new narratives. Created by Frank Kozik and produced by Kidrobot, this cute little smorkin' Labbit has been created in many sizes and guises, with several popular mini series as well as larger figures.
