About this Medium
Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a neologism for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word "giclée" is derived from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray". It was coined in 1991 by Jack Duganne, a printmaker working in the field, to represent any inkjet-based digital print used as fine art. The intent of that name was to distinguish commonly known industrial "Iris proofs" from the type of fine art prints artists were producing on those same types of printers. The name was originally applied to fine art prints created on Iris printers in a process invented in the early 1990s but has since come to mean any high quality ink-jet print and is often used in galleries and print shops to denote such prints. OG Slick is an American artist and designer known for his distinctive style that blends elements of street art, graffiti, and pop culture. OG Slick, whose real name is Omar “OG Slick” Quiroga, has been a prominent figure in the urban art scene, creating works that are both visually bold and deeply connected to the streets. His signature style often incorporates vibrant colors, playful characters, and dynamic compositions, which have made his art highly recognizable. One of OG Slick’s most notable contributions to the art world is his creation of the “Slick” character, a cartoonish figure that has appeared in various art toys, prints, and murals. This character, along with many of his other creations, often embodies a sense of humor, rebellion, and individuality, which resonates with fans of contemporary urban art. His work often explores themes of identity, social commentary, and cultural influences, blending his personal experiences with his love for graffiti and street culture.
