About this Artist

A guy in his mid-30ies, former snowboard professional. In all the subcultures that he's involved with, age is not the important thing anymore, and the group of people he skates with, snowboards with, or works on art projects are anything from 10 to 70. It’s like-minded people, and probably has to do with the common goal of having fun. The everyday passion is still there: he broke his hand last summer for the first time in 25years of skateboarding , still had to paint a 22ft tall character sculpture 3 days later for the opening of the self-built concrete skatebowl! ;) INOPERAbLE is an art space that deals with Contemporary Urban Culture with a focus on Street Art, a topic not often dealt with in Vienna. Street Art is a broad definition for a contemporary art movement which takes place outside in the open space. Street Art came out of the Graffiti movement of the 70’s in New York and other major cities. In general Street Art deals mostly with Stickers, Posters, Stencils, Sculptures, Graffiti and Installations that are spread with different mediums such as Spraypaint, Brushes, Markers, or Glue. The art form has fairly few borders but what is most important is originality, creativity, and staying active. Street Art is being embraced in every major city by the Art community, galleries, and by museums like the Tate Modern or the MoMA. Auction Houses like Sotherbys have seen Art works from the Street reaching record prices. The INOPERAbLE Gallery was founded as a project and Studio space in January 2006 but moved and reopened in September of 2008 at Burggasse 24, 1070 Vienna. Since its inception the gallery has shown over 100 artists including C215 (fr), Die Made (at), Lastplak (nl), Busk (at), Nychos (at), Christian Eisenberger (at), Aryz (sp), ACC (us), Permanent On the night of June 26th, Nychos will be premiering his latest creation, a solid art toy, NOT MADE IN CHINA! but made right here in Europe. The toy has been produced in a limited run of 100 pieces so they won’t last long! He has asked a number of his friends to customize the 12cm tall rabbits along with a canvas, both of which will be on display. Some of the Artists participating are deadlemming, sixxa, Aryz, Shida, Dust, Tika, Die Made, El Lasso, Zoe Byland, Rich:art, Mizzo, Koes and many more. This is the first large scale group custom art toy show in Austria.
