About this Platform
A Munny is a figure created by Kidrobot and made out of vinyl with movable joints. The initial idea was undertaken by taggers/ street artists/ street art designs and toys from (illegal artists) who have come to bring back their work legally to the public to display their works. The figures are blank and the owner can decorate them using pens, pencils, markers, paint, and other supplies. Alternatively, some people commission artists to design Munnys for them, or artists design them to sell. In MUNNYWORLD, you can do anything you want! MUNNY, BUB, TRIKKY, RAFFY, and ROOZ are the soft, super smooth vinyl figures that make up MUNNYWORLD. Each one is a blank canvas, and all ready for scribbling, piercing, painting, posing, piling, dressing up, and sculpting into forms straight from your imagination or you can keep them just as they are. See how great you truly are. Do amazing things and create more than ever before. And, most importantly, have fun with MUNNYWORLD “The Most Wanted” (MW) is an artist collective that started in 2009 and created by Tim Munz, Igor Ventura, and Manny Rivas. It is a custom Dunny series that pays homage to Kidrobot and their classic blind box series. Bringing together a huge collective of talent from across the globe, MW1 and its’ predecessor, MW2, were instant successes with both series selling out in a matter of seconds. Despite the continuing success of the collection, the founders’ goal remains the same: find and showcase the most competent up-and-comers in the scene and spread their talent across the globe. One of the best ways to do that is to exhibit the incredible works at art galleries. The “Most Wanted: Behind The Hype” show has no particular theme to limit the artists’ imagination. Manny and James wanted everyone to bring their own distinctive styles to the table and present them on the most popular platforms out there, KidRobot’s Munnys and Dunnys. The focus of this exhibit is to display the true talent and passion that lies behind the customized toy hype. What is the hype? Join us at the opening reception on Friday, May 11th and find The NUGGLIFE story has it’s humble beginnings rooted in New York City back in 2004. Two goons stumbled across the meaning of life over a blunt in the front steps of the Fashion Institute of Technology. Going together like weed and a dutchmaster, they put forth the framework for what would eventually become the NUGGLIFE brand, featuring an ever-expanding cast of characters inspired by the degenerates they grew up with. Influenced by their home of New York, these longtime buds created NUGGLIFE, a cannabis inspired lifestyle brand that focused on cut & sew clothing, custom vinyl collectables, and commission artwork. Starting off with custom collectables, Ian Ziobrowski carved a name for himself in the toy community, garnishing a wide range of awards highlighting his skills. Zachary Hirsch crafted the design side, by coming up with a concept that focused on all things cannabis without ever having to show a single weed leaf. The goal was to create a streetwear brand that matched the quality, craft, and attention to detail of the toy line. Another day, another hustle.
