About this Medium
Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, seriography, and serigraph. We work with artists studios and game companies to design custom posters and collectibles for collectors and partnersOriginally from Pennsylvania, Jesse Phillips is currently living and working in Albuquerque, NM. He drew his early inspiration from his interest in creating art for comic books, which have remained a major influence on his work. While attending college, Jesse spent a year studying at the School of Design of Osaka, Japan where he became fascinated with graphic design. Jesse returned home with an interest in combining illustration with design. Creating Gig posters offered him an opportunity to to do just that while also allowing him to maintain a high level of artistic freedom. Jesse has made gig posters for the Shins, Morrissey, Radiohead, The Pixies, and has recently started making movie posters for a range of companies including Paramount's latest Star Trek film..
