About this Artist
Yoh Nagao is a Japanese artist, currently based in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from Nagoya Zokei University of Art & Design (BFA) in Aichi, Japan, he worked at several design agencies while working as an independent artist, and freelance graphic designer. His artwork features acrylics and collages in a colorful and dynamic way, with added pencil & pen details. Creating imaginary landscapes, his unique style may incorporate specific themes and/or follow a series of episodes. Nagao is greatly inspired by American pop culture which has been playing a crucial role in his life for as long as he can remember. Spoke Art is San Francisco’s newest art gallery and publishing house. Following a year of pop up exhibits in New York City, San Francisco and Oakland, we have finally settled down into our new permanent space on Sutter Street in San Francisco’s dynamic Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. We specialize in emerging new contemporary artists with a firm emphasis on figurative and illustrative works. Our regular exhibits open the first Thursday of every month, and we specialize in connecting collectors with secondary market works namely in the fields of pop surrealism, low brow and street art. SAMETAN: DON'T TREAD ON ME PangeaSeed in collaboration with Tokyo-based vinyl toy designer Cometdebris (Koji Harmon), are pleased to announce our latest shark-saving effort: Sametan – Don’t Tread on Me For one weekend only, March 29-30, 2013, at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco, we will host a one of a kind art exhibition featuring 30 custom Sametan vinyl figures designed by 30 global artists including Frank Kozik, Buff Monster, Jenn Porreca and many more. Through this unique event we aim to generate greater awareness for the global plight of sharks and the importance of our oceans via creative and entertaining avenues in order to raise critical funding to support PangeaSeed’s ongoing efforts and groundbreaking projects. Proceeds raised through the sales of the vinyl figures will help fund PangeaSeed’s 2014 “Year of Living Dangerously” art tour of Asia. Because Asia is ground zero for the trade and consumption of many endangered species, the 2014 Asian event will reach six major Asian cities extending our core message to critical audiences.
