Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin or Rasputin the Mad Monk as he was known was one of the more larger than life men of modern history. Whether he was a gifted healer or a clever manipulator everyone can agree that he was a fascinating and contradictory man. As a close confidant of the imperial Romanov family, he quickly gained a lot of enemies from all sides, who would eventually plot to have him killed. On December 17th, 1916 it is rumoured that he was poisoned, shot twice in the head and once in the back. When he did not die, his attackers despaired and beat him to a pulp and threw him into a frozen river. His body was found two days later and it is said that he died clawing his way out of the icy water. 18" x 24" 6 color silkscreened poster on cougar natural cover paper
