This 29x18 inch screen printed poster was commissioned for the show on Nov. 17th, and is printed on white gallery stock. The image is a fun mish-mash of pop culture allusions. There's the obvious nod to our favorite candy-man, Willy Wonka (Wilder, thank you...NOT Depp). There's also a nod to another guy with wild hair and crazy clothes: that 'voodoo child' maker of audio-candy, Mr. Jimi. Those of you well-versed in rock-and-roll visuals will recognize that iconic pose depicted on the print. About this imagery, Jermaine said: 'At Monterrey, Hendrix said he wanted to sacrifice something to the crowd...something special, which was an extension of him. It was his coming-out party, stateside. So he gave them his guitar. It was the most precious thing that he felt he could offer. Mr. Wonka gave the people candy. It was his most precious and cherished thing. And at his coming-out party he decided to open the gates of the factory and give it all away to the people. The good people, at least.' -j.r.
