Teak is a dense timber rich in natural oils, and thus has great weather-resisting properties. This is fortunate for the Teak Monsoon Monkey, as he is believed to have been made to assist in the planting of Teak trees in the rainy season. Because of this fortuitous cycle of regeneration, Teak Monsoon Monkeys are not nearly as rare as some of their fellow Sky Monkeys, and seem quite content tending the saplings which will one day take their place. Locals see the Teak Monkeys as relations of Vishnu, the almighty preserver, whose tireless efforts sustain the universe in all of its glory. They whisper about Vishnu’s mightiness, and wonder whether the Teak Monkeys share his great strength… the strength to pluck a rainbow from the very sky, and, what is more, to fire its arrows when the time comes to defend their plantation.
