The sculpture stands at 11 inches tall and is solid resin. Each piece is hand made. Hello Coatlicue is a representation of the Aztec goddess of the same name, as if she was a pop cartoon icon. “She of the serpent skirt” already has a basalt monolith within the Aztec culture. She is a goddess, a symbol of the earth and is both creator and destroyer, as well as the mother of the gods and mortals. The dualism that she embodies is powerfully concretized in her image: a face of two fanged serpents and her breasts are flabby (seeing as she has nourished so many). Yet she still manages to wear her dress and bow to doll it up for the masses.
