About this Artist
Sean D’Anconia has built a seductive visual universe by marrying cult-cinema & animation to a wild pop-art aesthetic. Born in Montreal, Canada, D’Anconia was named after another “Sean”-Connery—by his mother, an intrepid James Bond fan. This early “Bondian” bullet would fire itself throughout D’Anconia’s life and creative pursuits. After living and working in Italy, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Vancouver—this iconoclast Canadian designer/artist/cine-visualist is firing from all creative pistons. D’Anconia’s composite world is a “bio pic” of his own imagination: irreverent, prolific, explosive – based on an encyclopedic knowledge of popular culture past, and a knowing eye for future trend undercurrents years before they hit, D’Anconia’s Pop-Fusion Art, design, creative branding, collages, melanges all serve to integrate his punk-mod sensibility, which pops-out of a razor sharp eye, colored by an eastern tinted lens. Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media.
