Background:

Inspired by cartoons, he drew prolifically as a child. By age 13, he was steadily writing a comic strip entitled “Child Hood.” At age 15, he was accepted to the Las Vegas Academy High school where he received his first and most formal art training, mainly from his instructor Cookie Treat. It was here where he joined his friend, confidant, and soul- twin “the” Professor 8o00%, John Engle. Together they created a unique (yet familiar) futuristic style. Directly after high school they held the “Carnival of the Eye,” an interactive, garden-art party fun-land dedicated to stimulating the eye.

After riding a domesticated tumbleweed out of Las Vegas, Tripper enjoyed a short stint in San Diego. He then moved to Eugene, Oregon's own “Friendly Estates,” where he exploded artistically making postcards, paintings and developing and performing shadow puppet shows with his friend and partner, Scarlett Rose. During his two years in Eugene he was a part of many art events and hosted many of his own openings. At this time he further developed and refined ideals relating to the messages behind his work.

Tripper left Eugene to live on the Fore Wands Farm in Corvallis where he helped to build a chicken coop with a gigantic painting of Humpty Dumpty wearing lederhosen on the side. This was also the time that he and Scarlett performed shadow puppet shows all across the northwest under the name “Wow Wee Zow Wee Shadow Cinema.” These shows include the famed Surf Space Double Feature.

Following his year on the Fore Wands Farm, Tripper moved up the road to Portland, Oregon. In Portland, he has been a part of events organized by Chaosmosis, a multimedia performance showcase. Since March of 2004, he has been involved with Junk Town, a collective of artists dedicated to the idea that art can combat waste through the use of material found in dumpsters, on the side of the street, and other places you don’t want to find your children. Junk Town has held many one night installations in Portland’s finer hipster hangouts, namely Holocene and Nocturnal (rest its soul).

Tripper is currently working on his masterpiece and residence, the Cartoon Bungalow. Here is where it all comes together with strange and silly music, prehistoric cartoons, and an environment that will host the unraveling of minds.

The Cartoon Bungalow is a house who's bright colors encourage exaggerated smiles with such events as “X-Mas is Weird” with the Junk Town artists and numerous Wow Wee Zow Wee events. Within these walls there is no cap on the silly jar; that is to say if you do a front flip in a flip flop just don’t stop ‘till the beet drop. This is the spot in which Tripper works on his paintings, shadow puppet shows, and where you will probably find him today.
