Kidrobot and the the future?

Since the closing of the NYC Prince Street location one of the largest consumer communities of the custom vinyl toy scene. I'm wondering what's in store for the famous brand under the guidance of Mr. Frank Kozik?

Also with the 3D printer now entering the manufacturing of almost everything what will become of the 'Old School Hand Job?' The sculptor may become a thing of the past?

Any thoughts out there....?

There have been a few interviews explaining Kozik's vision for Kidrobot that essentially boil down to 'he wants to do some rad stuff'. The timeline for production vinyl is usually 10 months or more ... so we're probably not going to see a lot of his influence until later in the year.

Kidrobot jumped full force on the licensing bandwagon, and why wouldn't you after seeing all money Funko was making hand over fist. I hope they do less of that, and go back to the 'Art Toys' that got me collecting them. Companies like Mighty Jaxx have stepped up big time to make great designer toys ... though I never liked the model of buying something and waiting 6+ months to receive it.

I think change is good. Kidrobot will hopefully go back to focusing on the art toys that made them unique, but the market that was there before 2008 just isn't there anymore so it's definitely a struggle all around for each company.
